2018 Water Department Rates

Water Rates

  • Rates for 2018 – $12.92 per thousand gallon
  • Residents must pay a minimum of 3 thousand gallons ($38.76)
  • Seniors(65 and older) – Minimum fee is waived (seniors pay for exactly what they use). Home must be occupied by senior, limited to one home per senior citizen
  • Unincorporated – $16.80 per thousand gallon. Must pay a minimum of 3 thousand gallons ($50.40)

Sewer Rates

  • Rates for 2018 – $1.70 per thousand gallon
  • Residents must pay a minimum of $5.10 (3 thousand gallons)
  • Seniors (65 and older) – Minimum fee is waived (seniors pay for exactly what they use). Home must be occupied by senior, limited to one home per senior citizen
  • Unincorporated – $4.53 per thousand gallon. Must pay a minimum of 3 thousand gallons ($13.60)

Garbage Rates

  • Rates for 2018 – $23.50 per household unit

* There is a minimal charge for meter maintenance and in some areas of the village lift station.

Water Bills are sent out every month. The Village attempts to have them sent out by the 10th of each month. If the 10th falls on a weekend, the water bill will be sent out prior to that weekend. The Bill is due 10 working days after it is mailed. If you have not received your water bill by the 15th of each month, please call the village. The village staff will pull up your account and tell you the amount owed.  If you have any questions about your bill, please contact the Village of Posen as soon as possible. DO NOT wait until the day the bill is due. If you wait until after the bill is due or until you receive your next bill, it will be more difficult to help you with any concerns you may have. It is easier to reread the meter and adjust the bill if there is an error when it is brought to the village staff’s attention immediately.

Water Deposits

Water deposits for all new residents are now $150.00. This deposit stays on your account until such time that you move. The water deposit is used towards your final bill with any remaining returned to you.

Water deposits for new businesses are now $400.00. This deposit stays on your account until such time that you close your business. The water deposit is used towards your final bill with any remaining returned to you.

Delinquent Accounts

A letter will be sent to any account that is delinquent for more then 60 days. If the resident does not visit the Village Hall or call within normal business hours and attend to the balance owed before the date stated in the letter, the water service for the billed property will be terminated until the bill is paid in full. There will also be a charge to reinstate the water service. (See Village Ordinance 5-2A 5B or contact the Village Hall for charges)
